Strong unicity criterion in some space of operators
Let X be a finite dimensional Banach space and let Y ⊂ X be a hyperplane. Let L Y = {L ∈ L (X, Y ) : L |Y = 0}. In this note, we present sufficient and necessary conditions on L0 ∈ L Y being a strongly unique best approximation for given L ∈ L (X). Next we apply this characterization to the case of X = l ∞ and to generalization of Theorem I.1.3 from [12] (see also [13]).
متن کاملEffective bounds on strong unicity in L1-approximation
In this paper we present another case study in the general project of Proof Mining which means the logical analysis of prima facie non-effective proofs with the aim of extracting new computationally relevant data. We use techniques based on monotone functional interpretation (developed in [18]) to analyze Cheney’s simplification [6] of Jackson’s original proof [10] from 1921 of the uniqueness o...
متن کاملStrong Approximations
In real stochastic systems, the arrival and service processes may not be renewal processes. For example, in many telecommunication systems such as internet traffic where data traffic is bursty, the sequence of inter-arrival times and service times are often correlated and dependent. One way to model this non-renewal behavior is to use Markovian Arrival Processes (MAP’s) and Markovian Service Pr...
متن کاملBest subspace tensor approximations
In many applications such as data compression, imaging or genomic data analysis, it is important to approximate a given tensor by a tensor that is sparsely representable. For matrices, i.e. 2-tensors, such a representation can be obtained via the singular value decomposition which allows to compute the best rank k approximations. For t-tensors with t > 2 many generalizations of the singular val...
متن کاملStrong Approximations of BSDEs in a domain
We study the strong approximation of a Backward SDE with finite stopping time horizon, namely the first exit time of a forward SDE from a cylindrical domain. We use the Euler scheme approach of [4, 29]. When the domain is piecewise smooth and under a non-characteristic boundary condition, we show that the associated strong error is at most of order h 1 4 −ε where h denotes the time step and ε i...
